Fun Family Events for October and Halloween in Limerick

There are some great family events on during October and Halloween in Limerick. Here are some events that caught our eye.

Workshops, Arts and Crafts, Festivals and More at The Hunt Museum

The Hunt Museum has a great line up for October. Crafts include Early Years Arts and Crafts every Friday 11am – 12.30pm. First Sunday of the Month Kids Arts and Craft Club is mosaics.  Art for Kids Workshop : Mosaics running over four Saturdays is led by artist Grainne Coughlan. Polish Music Workshop on the 6th October – led by Marcin Gluch. There will be two workshops 10.30am – 11am for the 4 – 7 years old and 11.30am – 12.15pm for the 7 – 12 years.

On the 14th  celebrate the Chinese Moon Cake Festival a 3,000 year old tradition associated with the Chinese legend of Chang'e, the Moon Goddess of Immortality. with storytelling and a children’s arts and crafts workshop. Ages 3+. As part of the Open House Architecture Festival , on the 21st,  Architecture workshop will give kids the chance to learn about architecture through arts and crafts. With all these events pre booking is advisable.

Dance Workshop and Crafternoons at the Limerick City Gallery of Art

Free Dance Workshop on the 6th of October for 8 – 12 year olds. The 'Hall of Mirrors' exhibition will bring a fun twist to learning new dance routines! Running every Saturday Family Crafternoons. Explore the LCGA together and then create your own masterpieces inspired by the collection.

Parent Expo at Thomond Park

Parent Expo 2012 hosted by Limerick City Childcare Committee in partnership with County Limerick Childcare Committee and Parent Support HSE. A FREE EVENT from 10.30 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday 13th October.

There will be lots of Information stands representing community, voluntary and commercial organisations providing information on supports and opportunities available to parents and children in the Limerick region. Guest appearance by Emma O'Driscoll, Presenter and Sheila O'Malley, Practical Parenting to speak on 'Happy Parent, Happy Child' and 'Bullying'.

National Trails Day

National Trails Day 7th October celebrates Ireland’s wonderful variety of trails and a chance for everyone to enjoy some of our most beautiful countryside, forests, mountains and lakes. There are walks on at  Kilmoylan Woods, The Great Southern Trial, Curragh Chase Forest Park and a Guided Nature Trail at Curragh Chase, Guided Tour and Family Fun Walk at Lough Gur and Lough Gur to Bruff Walk. Most are buggy friendly and some are suited to the under 4's. 

Story Time for Children

Watch House Cross Library Story Time is on Thursdays at 3pm. Easons on Saturday mornings at 11am and Roisin Meaney's storytime at the Granery Library on the 20th at 11am. 

Halloween at the Hunt

The Hunt Museum knows how to celebrate Halloween in style with Gross and Gruesome Zombie Tours on the 27th and 31st, Jack O'Latern painting – design and paint your own pumpkin, Family Halloween Tweasure Hunt on the 31st and the Haunted Hunt Halloween Camp – Spend a spooky day doing WICKED arts and crafts, GHOSTLY gallery activities and FIENDISHLY fun art!
