Workshops, Arts and Crafts, Festivals and More at The Hunt Museum
The Hunt Museum has a great line up for October. Crafts include drop in Arts & Crafts every Saturday 10.15 – 11.15, Learning to Draw What you See Saturdays 10 – 2, Early Years Arts and Crafts every Friday 11am – 12.30pm.
On the first Sunday of the Month is a Kids Arts & Craft Club. The “Dream & Do” – Design Through Clay Workshop is on Saturdays 1 – 2.30 with local artist Clare Jordan. “Dream and Do” uses clay to reflect on shape, form and texture. Participants will design and create in clay, their own sculptural piece utilising ceramic skills received through the workshop.
As part of the Open House Architecture Festival , on the 20th, Ar-Kid-Tecture workshop will give kids the chance to learn about architecture through arts and crafts.
Limerick City Gallery of Art
Limerick City Gallery of Art have lots of October classes for all ages. Free artist-led Portfolio Preparation Classes from 29th – 31st October focusing on preparing portfolio sketchbooks for entry into third level art and design courses. Suitable for 16-21 year olds. They are holding a range of Youth Midterm Workshops (12-17 year olds) – 29 Oct- Animation Workshop; 30 Oct- Urban Art Workshop & 31 Oct- Movie FX artistry Zombie Workshop Booking in advance essential for all classes.
Halloween at the Hunt
The Hunt Museum knows how to celebrate Halloween in style! Things get hairy & scary on The Spooky Tour on 26th & 30th, its the Croagh School of Music Halloween Party on 27th – Listen to their performance of Halloween hits!
Try Jack O’Latern carving – design and carve your own pumpkin on 26th, & a Family Halloween Treasure Hunt on the 30th – tweasure hunters will tour some of Limerick’s museums to get the answers to questions and prove that you’ve completed the quests!
Lough Gur Storytelling Festival
Lough Gur Storytelling Festival is a weekend celebration of the art of storytelling with traditional music, drama and poetry. Events for adults and children. Each year the organisers manage to bring a quality programme and performers with a difference and promises a feast of entertainment with storytelling, traditional music, song, dance and drama.
Castleconnell Craft Fair
Held annually on the October Bank Holiday weekend, Castleconnell Craft Fair hosts over 45 displays of varied craft from many parts of Ireland. The range of craft on display includes a wide variety of Irish made pieces in various media – artwork, ceramics, glassware, knitwear, woodwork and many more.
Open House Architectural Festival
The Open House Architectural Festival promises to be a weekend of site-visits, lectures, films, children’s activities and student projects to engage with and involve the general population, providing a memorable experience of what good architecture is and of the ways in which it might be a force for cultural, social and economic good.
