Things to do with Kids this St Patrick’s Weekend Limerick

St Patrick’s Weekend Limerick – that means it’s the middle of March!!! The year is speeding up.  Are you looking for activities for the kids in your area this St Patrick’s weekend?  So let’s see what is on in your area for kids and the family to get up to! Here are some of the events that caught our eye in Limerick over the St Patricks weekend.

St Patricks Day Parades

The Limerick City St Patricks Day Parade looks set to once again be the largest regional parade in the country.

Limerick’s St. Patrick’s Festival will include the 44th International Band Championship on Sunday 16th March and the giant St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Monday 17th March.

On Sunday 16th March, the Limerick International Band Championship will celebrate its 44th anniversary and over 1000 musicians will converge in Limerick for the party!

The Parade itself will take place at 12 pm on Monday 17th March.

The Hunt Museum will be celebrating all things Irish on Monday 17th 2-5 pm with free themed events, crafts and music featuring the Croagh School of Music’s Trad Ensemble with a  Concert at 3.00pm.
These activities are sure to entertain people of all ages!
To top it all off, they are offering free admission to everyone wearing green!

Paddy’s Day Unlocked

Paddy’s Day Unlocked offers an alternative post-parade fayre; one of the craic, ceol, damhsa agus dánta that showcases the exciting acts, musical, theatrical of spectacle and culinary – that makes the Ireland of today unique. The day will kick off from 3pm with musicians, electronic music, dance, theatrical performances, spoken word and ending with a screening. Food stalls showcasing artisan Irish food producers will sell food throughout the event.

St Patrick’s Festival of Racing

Limerick Racecouse have a Festival of Racing over the St Patrick’s Weekend with lots going on. On the 16th March it’s a family fun day with an onsite playground, facepainting, bouncy castle, face painting, cinema club and racing simulator. Another plus is that children under 16 go free!

World Book Day Puppet Show

On Saturday 15th March O’Mahonys Booksellers will host a puppet show in their Limerick store, suitable for kids from 2 – 8 years. There will be storytelling and facepainting also – all beginning at 11am.
