John Lewis were one of the first to produce a really iconic Christmas ad, and for the last decade their ad has been hotly anticipated. Over the years we have seen two snowmen fall in love, Monty the Penguin, Bear and the Hare, and last year’s hilarious bouncing boxer.
Speculation is always rife as to the theme, and also the choice of soundtrack. This year’s ad, featuring Moz the Monster, features Elbow covering the 1969 Beatles song Golden Slumbers.

This year, we are introduced to Moz, an under-the-bed monster who befriends a little boy with his bumbling way and his puppy dog eyes.

In a nod to how popular the John Lewis Christmas ad has become, none other than Academy Award-winning screenwriter Michael Gondry was brought in to work on the two minute ad.
According to reports, the ad is estimated to have cost around £7 million, and it will air during tonight’s Gogglebox on Channel 4.
