Focusing on the all-time classic family movie The Sound of Music, which was one of the first movies shown on Sky in 1989, this year’s Sky Cinema Christmas ad is nostalgia wrapped in a warm blanket!
There are a whole list of classic movies that are always on at Christmas – your family probably has its own tradition of watching Back to the Future, James Bond, Gone With the Wind, or Indiana Jones on the lazy, food-filled days of Christmas. And The Sound of Music is another favourite that Sky Cinema are using to show the passing of time.

The ad tells the tale of a mother and daughter from the daughter’s introduction to the Von Trapps, right through childhood, the awkward teen years and on to adulthood. With a soundtrack of classic lines and songs from The Sound of Music, it’s a direct formula for tears!

In case you thought you were going to miss out on seeing that infamous round up of what will be on offer over the Christmas period, Sky Cinema are also launching two more ads – one showing the mother and daughter writing a letter to Santa, and another taking the viewer on a trip through an advent calendar to see what’s on and when.
