Home is the latest animated movie to be released by Dreamworks. Here’s what we thought of it – The New Dreamworks Home Movie… Reviewed:
The Movie’s Plot
When Oh, a loveable misfit from another planet, lands on Earth and finds himself on the run from his own people, he forms an unlikely friendship with an adventurous girl named Tip who is on a quest of her own.
Through a series of comic adventures with Tip, Oh comes to understand that being different and making mistakes is all part of being human, and together they discover the true meaning of the word HOME.
It is the first 3D animated feature to star a black character and the cast includes: Jim Parsons, Rihanna, Steve Martin, and Jennifer Lopez.
What Our Reviewer Thought
I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Sometimes you go along to these animated films thinking they are going to be formulaic, however this one was a bit different for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the main character was black, which makes a change, and secondly, the jokes were good. I particularly liked Oh’s mixed up English e.g. “I is being your companion on this ship”.
It’s also good because there’s no stupid noisy chase scene which always seems to finish these children’s movies, instead it’s about friendship and belonging, themes which everyone can appreciate, parent or child.
My daughter aged 10 said “It’s funny”. Says it all really.
