Greta Gerwig’s Little Women

Director of Lady Bird, Greta Gerwig has teamed up again with Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet for the new adaptation.

Oscar-nominated Ronan plays Jo March, one of the four sisters in the novel.

According to Sony Pictures, this new adaptation of Little Women draws on both the classic novel and the writings of Louisa May Alcott, and unfolds as the author’s alter ego, Jo March, reflects back and forth on her fictional life.

In Gerwig’s take, the beloved story of the four March sisters, young women each determined to live life on her own terms, is both timeless and timely.

Portraying Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth March respectively, the film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen.

Timothée Chalamet is their neighbor Laurie, Laura Dern plays Marmee, and Meryl Streep takes on the role of Aunt March.

Little Women is one of my all time favourite books, and our Book Club even read it this year. So I’m looking forward to seeing this new adaptation to see how it measures up to past movie versions and the book itself.

I particularly can’t wait to see how Meryl Streep fares as Aunt March!
