Cork Moon Walk with CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory and St Peter’s
July 21, 2019 - July 23, 2019

Friday 19.07.19 – Sunday 21.07.19
Nano Nagle Place is partnering with CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory and St Peter’s Cork to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing! These events across the city are FREE and family friendly!
Planetariums at St Peters, and Nano Nagle Place will represent the Earth and Moon respectively, allowing you to go on your very own “Moon Walk” through the city. With each small step, you’ll take a giant leap, as we scale down the epic Apollo 11 mission to fit within the heart of Cork City. Important milestones in the mission will be represented by iconic Cork landmarks, giving you a feel for the scale of the historic undertaking.
On reaching Nano Nagle Place, everything takes on a Lunar perspective. Join the special planetarium show to learn more about the Moon and the Apollo 11 mission. Where did they land? How long were they there? Is the “Man on the Moon” a real thing? We’ll answer all these questions and more, as well as engaging in some lunar themed workshops, including the opportunity to create your very own lino print of The Moon!
In addition to the Moon Walk, there will be a number of other events in Nano Nagle Place marking the Apollo 11 Anniversary.
Friday 19th July – “Cosmic Walk”, with Sr Emma (5 pm at Nano Nagle Place)
Friday 19th July – “A Brief History of [Cork] Time“, with Dr Peter Hession (6.30 pm at Nano Nagle Place)
For more info about times of the planetarium shows and workshops see the Blackrock Castle Observatory website
