Cooking with Daisy is written by Josie Klafkowska (Quercus Publishing, London)
I have to admit to shedding a tear when I first got this book, not usually what you would associate with a cookbook. The story behind the book is a sad one but the book is a joy to read. All the royalties from the book are being donated to the Isabel Medical Charity.
Visually the book looks great with photos for many of the recipes and kids enjoying the foods cooked. And my favourite part is that each recipe has nutritional information. The recipes have been provided by parents, grandparents, kids and celebrities and the recipes are suitable for all the family. Each recipe has a preparation time and cooking time.
The Fudgy Chocolate Layer cake has become my new birthday cake and I even attempted the Gingerbread Sweetie House on page 140 for my daughter’s 3rd birthday. I have to admit that it didn’t look exactly like the photo but whenever I ask my kids what they would like to bake they always ask for the gingerbread house so I must have done something right! We also love the mini-balls in tomato sauce; they are a real hit, as are the eggs in pots on page 84.
I love this book, and so do my kids, aged 2 and 4. There are some really great recipes that we can all cook together.
