July's Seasonal Produce

This month, things have been growing with vigour on the farm and we have been harvesting loads of lovely fresh vegetables.

The fields outside are brimming with produce; July really is the month of plenty. So what is in season this month? This is the month for tomatoes, the king of the crops. The first juicy sweet tomatoes are just ripening on the vines, and there really is no comparison with those bought in the supermarket, you really need to taste them to understand. The other crops that come into there own in July are cucumbers and scallions. We have been harvesting lettuce now for months, but again this is a good summer crop.

In brief this month you should be able to buy locally grown, carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, courgettes, cabbages, lettuce and salad, scallions, early onions, spinach and loads loads more. So be on the look this time of the year is the best time to savour the taste of freshly grown locally produced veg.

And with August just around the harvest is really about to kick off!! So until next month enjoy your freshly picked vegetables!
