“Now Just Add Your Hands …” is a collection of recipes from Bawnmore National School, put together in aid of CDs Helping Hands, the Children’s Cancer Charity for the West.
This nicely-produced spiral bound cookbook is a great addition to one’s cookbook collection, especially with the added bonus of helping a charity. There is a good selection of recipes broken down by ingredient or dish type in the index. Each section features drawings by the school pupils, as well as little hints and tips such as how to chop an onion, and little quotes in Irish and English.
The first recipe that my 3 year old helped me with was the Home Made Buns recipe, and we declared these to be delicious and indeed, have made this recipe three times since, as it is so easy and tasty. We also tried the Pork Chops in Apple Juice recipe as well (before the Pork Crisis!) and we liked the flapjacks recipe (provided by Rachel Allen), especially with the list of variations that you can try – can’t wait to try out the Ginger Flapjacks!
I liked the cute illustrations, the kids had obviously put alot of care and attention into their drawings. The quotes and tips add a nice touch as well.
