What the Tester thought
When Eloise, aged 4, first saw the Littlest Pet Shop Playset and Blythe figurine she immediately said, “I LOVE it!!” She couldn’t wait to get it out of the box and investigate the shop, pets, rolleroos and accessories.
I have to say she absolutely adored setting up her shop, rearranging her shop and getting Blythe ready to work the shop. She was a bit confused about what the point of the rolleroos was (for those not familiar with LPS, they are little balls that look like an animal all rolled up), but soon was having a great time putting them in the chute and flinging them around the spinning wheel and down the hatch.
The Blythe figurine came with two little plastic dresses that she found too difficult to put on herself, so I had to help her with them (she has since figured out how to get the dresses on). The tiny hair accessories fit easily onto Blythe’s head and stayed put. When she was done playing with the playset, she was able to fold up the pet shop, pop all the pets, Blythe and her accessories through the windows and stow it away.
The only issue she had was that the two halves of the shop would come apart on occasion. It’s easy to snap them back together, but she was still a bit irritated about it.
What the parent thought!
I have to say at first I was a bit dubious on how this was going to hold her attention. But, even a couple of weeks on, she is still getting it out to play with every other day or so. I appreciated that there weren’t any sounds or flashing lights, so all of the play comes from Eloise’s imagination.
The playset does split apart pretty easily, which can get a bit frustrating, but she’s able to snap it back into place so I’m not hearing “Muuuuuuuummmmmy!” every time it happens. The pieces are tiny tiny tiny, so take the 4+ age range seriously.
As a mum, I’m happy with the playset and think that any little lady with an interest in cute animals would love it.
