As parents, we’ve all been there, baby needs changing, but where to go? Fortunately, I have always found baby changing facilities easy to find when out and about in Dublin North.
All major tourist attractions have baby changing rooms including Hugh Lane Gallery, National Aquatic Centre. As do most city hotels.
All shopping centres around Dublin North have designated baby changing areas; many have facilities on each floor. You will find changing rooms in Clare Hall Shopping Centre, Artane Castle, Ilac Centre, Jervis Shopping Centre, Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, Omni Shopping Centre, Donaghmede Shopping Centre,Charlestown Shopping Centre etc. Individual stores that have baby changing rooms include Marks & Spencers, Debenhams, Arnotts, and Clerys.
A lot of the family friendly restaurants have baby changing facilities. Mc Donald’s and Burger King always supply a no-frills baby changing table in their bathrooms, while strictly these are for patrons use only, I have often run in to use them if there is a nappy emergency!
Feeding baby when out and about should not be a problem wherever you are. Most restaurants will warm a bottle or your baby’s food. If you’re a breastfeeding mother, feel free to breastfeed wherever you like! However if you prefer to breastfeed in private or you have a nosy baby and a need a quiet place to feed you will find feeding rooms in all the major shopping centres and in Debenhams Ilac Centre and Arnotts. Or else find a comfortable chair in one of the numerous coffee shops around the city nobody will bat an eyelid!
If you have read my Family Friendly Restaurants article, you will know that I am a home bird and tend to frequent the local shopping centre which means I may not be aware of what stores deserve GOLD STARS for their baby changing facilities….
Thanks to Aisling Gannon who suggested the following places for changing the baby:
- Foodroom Clontarf,Dublin 3: Wide access for buggies, they’ll bring coffee to the table for you, very nice staff with good (if cold) baby changing facilities
- Milano’s Restaurant, IFSC, Dublin 1:Good changing facilities, and so obliging. Sunday afternoon for kids is a joy with complimentary face painting and toys.
- Marks and Spencers Café on Henry st, Dublin 1:Good changing facilities on the same floor as the cafe.
So if there is somewhere that you have come across with good baby changing facilities, please let me know! I want to award them with GOLD STARS….thank you!
