Easter at Luggwoods, Dublin

The Easter bunny loves coming to the majestic Luggwoods forest, so come along and join him this Easter.  The Magical Easter Spring Trail is decorated with lots of colour and Easter sensations, so you can let your imaginations go wild at this special time of year.

Meet the Luggwoods Fairy Tales characters who are on hand to help guide you to find the clues that crack the code on the Easter puzzle! There is so much to see and do as you wind your way through the natural forest setting with family fun all around.

Work together to complete the Easter Challenge, visit the hidden Luggwoods mini petting farm and so much more! You will also get to meet the Easter Bunny and he will have a chocolate Easter egg for all the kids.

Easter Fun at Irish National Stud, Kildare

Easter events for families at The Irish National Stud and Gardens

Dates: Friday 7th to Monday 10th April

The Irish National Stud & Gardens have daily family activities running over the Easter Break from April 7th to 10th including:

  • Face painting
  • Magic shows
  • Easter egg hunts

Children can also visit the playground, discover fairies & folklore on the Fairy Trail, and see the new baby foals with a guided tour of the stud and gardens included in the ticket price.

Easter Family Trail at Johnstown Castle, Wexford

Dates: April 1st to 16th 2023 (inclusive)

Enjoy a family day out at Johnstown Castle this Easter holidays. Hunt for clues along the Easter Trail through the gardens of Johnstown Castle. Walk the winding paths, see the wildlife, have fun in the woodland playground while you search!

There is also an indoor trail that can be completed too.

Each ticket holder will receive an Easter Egg on completion of the trail(s).

Easter Egg Hunt at Fota House & Gardens, Cork

This Easter, be sure to head to Fota House & Gardens and enjoy the annual Easter egg hunt.

Easter Egg Hunt at Birr Castle Demesne, Offaly

On Easter Sunday and Easter Monday 10 April, enjoy an “Easter Egg Hunt” at Birr Castle Demesne. During your Easter trail you will meet with The Easter Bunny, who will be joined by Henny Penny, Larry the Lamb, Quackers the Duck and the Mad Hatter. Once you complete the trail you can pick up your Easter Egg from the Mad Hatter…all going well!

Mud Bugs Welly Adventures at Lough Key Forest & Activity Park, Roscommon

Mud Bugs at Lough Key

Dates: April 13th & 14th 2023 at 11am and 2.30pm

Go on a Welly Adventure with Mud Bugs this Easter where you will explore woodland trails, walking trails and have adventures in nature and enjoy some nature themed crafts and activities.

Each adventure lasts 90 minutes and every child will receive an adventure kit! This activity is suitable for children aged 5 to 10 years and costs €12 per child.

Rathwood Easter Train, Carlow

Hop, skip and jump aboard the Rathwood Express Train to visit the Easter Bunny, along with a fun-filled egg hunt in the Maze of Ireland!

The Easter Bunny is up to his usual tricks of hiding Easter Eggs as well as some other things that do not belong to him. In a musical show full of dance and songs that’s all splashed with colour images, the children (and the grown-ups) will have to help find the hidden Easter Eggs and whatever else the Easter Bunny has hidden.

Each child will receive a set of bunny ears, a handmade chocolate egg from the Easter Bunny and a yummy hot chocolate with Marshmallows.

Easter Festival at Clonfert Pet Farm, Kildare

Take a trip to the farm for some Easter fun. In addition to seeing all the cute farm animals, enjoy the fun fair, face painting, treasure hunt, teddy bear’s picnic, and lots more!

Easter Egg Hunts at Clissmann Horse Caravans, Wicklow

Dates: April 1st-2nd, 7th-10th 2023

Enjoy a fun-filled Easter Day Out together in the fresh air on the family farm in the Wicklow Hills. Hop, skip and jump through the fields with your basket on an Egg-citing Easter Egg Hunt and crack all the clues to help the Easter Bunny gather the colourful little eggs and find the crunchy carrots for his donkey Pals.

As a thank you for all your help, you’ll win a yummy Chocolate Easter Egg prize and get a chance to feed the donkeys through the special Easter Feeder Carrot Cruncher!

Children’s Spring Festival at Slieve Aughty, Galway

Throughout the Easter holidays Slieve Aughty Centre invites you and your family to visit and celebrate Spring!

They will have their usual fun activities, including the Enchanted Forest, pony rides, playground, nature hut, arts and crafts room, and organic restaurant are even more exciting during the spring festival. The organic garden is freshly planted with loads of delicious fruits and vegetables and herbs and is a lovely stroll, and have some fun trying on some silly hats and wigs in the arts and crafts room. Come and pet the ponies and donkeys, visit the pot-bellied pig, meet our sheep and the baby foals!

All that fresh spring air works up an appetite, so leave some time for a relaxing meal at The Three Towers Organic Kitchen, where everything is delicious, fresh and homemade.

Easter Farm Fun at Newbridge House & Gardens, Dublin

There’s fun on the farm this Easter with a surprise visit from Gerty Goose.

Gerty has hidden her Golden Eggs throughout the farm, but how many can you see? Follow the trail as you visit all of the Newbridge residents, making sure to take a good look into each enclosure! Count the eggs as you go and pop your guess in Gerty’s special post box on completion to be in with a chance to take home your very own plush Gerty!

Tickets can be booked online or at the admission desk on arrival, subject to availability. It is advised to allow time for parking and queuing on arrival.

Children’s History Workshop: Easter Eggs

Date: Thursday 6th April 3pm

Join Dublin’s Historian-in-Residence for Children Dervilia Roche for this free, interactive workshop for children aged 9-12yrs at Richmond Barracks.

Learn about Easter traditions from Ireland and other countries, and find out how the tradition of chocolate eggs came about. Decorate your own egg shells and take part in an easter egg hunt in the garden.

On Easter Sunday between 11am and 4pm the Easter Bunny has organised a traditional egg hunt at the fairy woodland walk. Follow his instructions & collect each of the different coloured eggs to receive a chocolate reward!

Easter Eggsperience at Croke Park GAA Museum, Dublin

Hatch a plan to go to the Croke Park this Easter break where you can enjoy taking part in an eggstra special Easter Egg Hunt! Each participant will have a load of fun as they follow clues around the stadium. They will have to be eggstra vigilant and listen carefully if they want to complete the hunt and earn themselves a delicious egg at then end of the hunt.

How to Book: Tickets should be booked in advance and ticket prices include a guided tour of the stadium, participation in the Easter Egg Hunt and a chocolate egg, eggcup to decorate and a visit to the GAA Museum.

Easter Festival at Fairyhouse Racecourse, Meath

Fairyhouse is home to the famous three-day Easter Festival which is taking place, with the Irish Grand National taking place on Easter Monday.

Easter Sunday is Family Day and promises to be a fantastic day out, and with ample free entertainment laid on for the kids, the parents are sure to be able to relax and enjoy some family time with a great day at the races. Plus, kids go FREE!

Easter at Lullymore Heritage Park, Kildare

Join the Easter Bunny & Friends for an “eggstra” special event where you have to find all the clues hidden throughout Lullymore Heritage Park, solve Easter Bunny’s puzzle and collect your egg. There will also be prizes of larger eggs each afternoon for everybody who has done the Egg Hunt!

If that wasn’t enough, there’s also the Funky Forest Indoor Play Centre, a crazy golf course, large quality outdoor playground with new updated play features and the hugely popular train trip through the award-winning Peatland Biodiversity Trail.

To relax, take a ramble through the Park’s woodland/peatland trails, gardens and numerous historic exhibitions – all have been recently updated with life-like models, holograms and touchscreen multi-media. There’s also a pet farm containing Falabella horses, alpacas, donkeys, pot-bellied pigs and cute goats, including film star Toggles the Goat!

Easter Egg Hunt at Westport House, Mayo

Mayo’s finest annual Easter Treasure Trail usually takes place on Easter Sunday. The Trail will have you looking high and low for clues to enter to win some great prizes, while exploring the gorgeous historic grounds of Westport Estate and enjoying the thrills of the Pirate Adventure Park.

The first 300 children to complete the Treasure Trail will receive a free chocolate easter egg and enter to win some great prizes, while everyone who completes the hunt will also be entered into a prize draw at 5pm on the day.

If you are looking for a fun, free day out this Easter, why not try one of our National Museums? There are a range of events taking place in the run up to Easter at each of the NMI locations in Dublin and Mayo.
