#1. Science Festival at National Museum of Scotland


The whole family can enjoy sensational science at this year’s Science Festival at National Museum of Scotland April 1st – 16th 2017, with drop-in events, bookable workshops and shows.

#2. Duck Race on River Yar

South West

1,000 numbered, yellow, plastic ducks are released in to the river in Yarmouth, to be carried along by the tide.

The first four to reach the Yar bridge are declared the winners. This year’s Duck Race takes place on Easter Saturday.

#3. Princess Adventure at East Lancashire Railway

North East

Let it go, dig a little deeper and introduce your little princesses and knights to a whole new world of railway enchantment.

It’s all aboard the Fairytale Express on Thursday 13th April as your favourite characters join forces with the ELR for a mission to find the magical gems of Storybook Land before the evil villains find them and end everyone’s happy endings.

Sing along with our heroes as they use magic and mayhem to win the day, but they’ll only be able to do it with your help! Join our cast as they take you on a fantastical family day out that travels the length and breadth of the East Lancashire Railway.


The Princess Adventure will start and finish at Bury Bolton Street Station.

#4. Easter Hunt at Alnwick Castle

North East

Discover the magic of Easter at Alnwick Castle Garden between 1st – 5th April. This will have you hopping with excitement as you bounce your way around The Garden taking in all the wonderful sights and smells of Spring. A great day out for children and adults alike exploring the Castle’s stunning garden.

#5. Easter Egg Hunt at Birmingham Botanical Gardens


Celebrate Easter Sunday at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and take part in their Easter Hunt! Start off with a special Golden Ticket egg hunt around the grounds – find the 10 Golden Tickets hidden in the gardens and win a prize! Everyone who completes their Golden Ticket form will win a yummy treat!


As well as the Easter Hunt there will be The Chocolate Factory, Chocolate Workshop, Outdoor Games and face painting throughout the day – celebrate Spring in style!

They also have daily Easter Half Term Fun activities during the week before Easter weekend.

The Eden Easter Eggstravaganza is hard to beat. Bring the family for quests and hunts and egg-themed games. Have a crack at their inflatable assault course and other awesome activities. Plus, of course, there’ll be popular prizes and treats to enjoy

#7. Giant Easter Duck Hunt at London Wetland Centre


Spring is a wonderful time to visit WWT London Wetland Centre as new life is bursting out all around with babies, bugs and buds in abundance. But some of their ducklings have gone missing, can you help them find them? They have disguised themselves as the ducks that live here at the Centre, so follow the Easter GIANT duck trail around their beautiful nature reserve between Saturday 1st April – Monday 17th April to discover where they are hiding. If you find them all you’ll win a chocolate prize!

#8. Easter Family Fun at Hever Castle

For some magical family moments this Easter, hop through Hever Castle & Gardens on the trail of the Lindt Gold Bunny to earn an adorable miniature fluffy bunny. Enjoy family entertainment throughout the Easter holidays from April 1 to 17 – sure to put a spring in everyone’s step.

Children can make and decorate an Easter bonnet at daily craft workshops* (*small additional charge) and then parade their creation in front of the Castle for the chance to win prizes for the best Easter bonnets.

More family fun awaits in the Castle, where visitors can discover the history of Easter and learn about Easter traditions in the Castle quiz.

#9. Easter Hunt at St Fagans National History Museum


Join in the fun at St Fagan’s National History Museum this Easter with their Family Easter trail. Solve the riddles and follow the trail around the site, then it’s back to the start to claim your egg-citing prize!

No advance booking needed for this event – just turn up and pay on the day. Head to Kennixton Barn (the red house) to begin the trail.

Suitable for children age 4+ and £2.50 per child.

Then get close to nature and discover beech woodland and learn all about wildlife on their nature trail.

#10. Easter Adventures with Robin Hoodie and Maid Marion

South East


Look out for Robin Hoodie, Maid Marion and a merry band of naughty outlaws in the grounds of Leeds Castle for a fun filled ‘Walking Theatre’ adventure of silliness and laughter Easter Adventures with Robin Hoodie and Maid Marion – perfect for all the family on Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Leeds Castle is calling for Merry Men and Merry Maids to help save the day; Robin Hoodie has lost Maid Marion and Maid Marion has found the right wicked Sheriff of Nottingham, but who needs saving from whom?! Visit the Pavilion Lawn for shows at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3pm for one hour promenade style theatre shows that will take visitors on a journey through the woodland walk. Throughout the day children can enjoy making their own Robin Hoodie or Princess hats to wear on their adventure.

National Trust Easter Egg Hunts


Cadbury has partnered with The National Trust and the National Trust for Scotland to create Easter Egg trails at 300 locations across the country.

Every trail will start at Base Camp where they will receive their Eggsplorer Trail Journal containing their eggspedition trail map and clues so they stay on track. After successfully completing the trail each Eggsplorer will be rewarded with a delicious Cadbury Egghead.
