#1. Cathy was born in Coventry (in 1962).

#2. She wrote her first picture book for her little brother aged 8 or 9.

#3. Cathy loved making comics when she was younger too with picture stories, features and competitions. She would sell her homemade comic to a friend for 5p, then claim it back and sell it again to someone else.

#4. Cathy went to Art College in Liverpool, then got a job as fiction editor on girls’ magazine, Jackie.

#5. Cathy married her boyfriend Liam. She has 2 grown up kids Calum and Caitlin.

#6. She trained to be an art teacher. She taught art in both secondary and primary schools.

#7. For 12 years Cathy was the agony aunt for teen mag Shout.

#8. She lived in Scotland for a few years.

#9. She now lives in Merseyside in a Victorian house that looks out over a park with a lake with swans and geese.

#10. Cathy has been a vegetarian for over 30 years (Vegan for 8 of them). She calls herself a chocolate-eating vegan (like Storm!)

#11. Cathy has a cat called Pepper and 2 dogs called Kelpie & Finn. Kelpie, who is a lurcher, inspired the dog Legg-It in her first book.

#12. She has drawn all of the illustrations and the front covers to all the Daizy Star books.

#13. Her favourite colour is moss green.

#14. Her favourite childhood books included the Narnia books and The Little House books

#15. Cathy says that eating cake with friends is amongst one of her favourite things to do (apart from daydream of course)
