STEPS Engineers Week 2021 is an annual week-long festival of nationwide activities celebrating the world of engineering in Ireland. It takes place from Saturday, 27th February to Friday, 5th March 2021. Check out these 6 amazing ways to get involved in STEPS Engineers Week 2021, all from the comfort of your home.

There are many ways to get involved in the STEPS Engineers Week 2021, with FREE fun activities available online now that aim to inspire the next generation of engineers and get children and teens excited about possible careers in engineering.

STEPS Engineering Week Events To Inspire

#1. Family Festival

STEPS Engineerings Week 2021

Digital events happening on the weekend of Saturday, 27th February and Sunday, 1st March include family fairs taking place digitally across Ireland. Here are just some of the FREE events you can book into right now! Spaces always book up quickly so don’t delay.

Explorium WorkshopBuild a bridge and get over it! Become an engineer as Mark the Science Guy takes you on a bridge building adventure at Explorium. Suitable for 6 – 11 year olds.

Science Made Simple: Busking – Learn some cool science about the world around us and how to practice it on your friends and family. Suitable for 7yrs+.

Science Made Simple: Fooling Your Senses – Investigate the science that we can use our bodies to explore. Suitable for 7yrs+.

Rediscovery Centre – This Engineering Workshop introduces engineering concepts, types of engineering, & shows us that engineering is essential in our lives. Suitable for 6 – 12 year olds.

National Reptile Zoo: ZooZoom – Come and join the National Reptile Zoo for fun at STEPS Engineers Week 2021!

The Sligo Engineering Fair also have a wide range of online interactive workshops from Fan Powered Cars, Big Hero 6 Screening & Mathmagination.

For teens there is the Foroige YES: Youth Engineering Workshops including Pneumatic Trucks and A Rough Guide to Engineering.

Bring engineering to your screens with the STEM Stories Film and Documentary List, exploring engineering and STEM via recommendations such as documentary Dream Big: Engineering our World, a heartfelt of human ingenuity, and Hidden Figures, the film based on the inspiring true story of three brilliant African-American women who worked at NASA in the 1950s.

The Engineers Ireland STEPS Programme is a non-profit outreach scheme that promotes interest and awareness in engineering as a future career to school students through a portfolio of projects. STEPS is funded by Science Foundation Ireland, the Department of Education and Skills and has four industry sponsors including ARUP, ESB, Intel and TII.
