Finding things to do with children before they start school can be difficult, or if you are new to an area. So we have put together some suggestions of things to do with Pre-Schoolers in Mayo.
Visit one of the many great Libraries around Mayo! The junior section of the Library is a great way to spend an hour or two reading and choosing books, also your pre-schooler can join the library and choose their own books to borrow. Check out your local library to see upcoming events and news.
Go swimming! Many of the swimming pools have dedicated times for Parent & Toddler Swims and/or specific swimming areas for smaller children.
Sign up for a class. There are a choice of classes for little people, its never to early to pick up a hobby!
Visit one of the play centres or pet farms in Mayo, with dedicated soft play areas for preschoolers, this is a great way to spend a couple of hours and burn off some energy!
Visit the playground. Always a big hit with toddlers and most playgrounds around Mayo have swings and slides as well as play frames for toddlers. It’s also a perfect way for you to get our for some fresh air and hopefully meet other parents with young kids. All the running usually tires them out so they’ll be ready for a nap when you get home.
Join a local Parent & Toddler Group. There are many local groups throughout Mayo that meet weekly. Parent and Toddler groups are a great way of young children to mix with children their own age and for parents to meet other local parents!
The Cinema is always good for a rainy day and cheaper tickets at the weekend clubs.
If you have a free day mid week a big advantage with getting out and about with preschoolers is that you can visit places at “off peak” times when older children are at school and popular places aren’t as busy!
You could get out and about for a walk. Check out our Family Walks in Mayo for inspiration.
