Reading#1. Enjoy your local library

Visit one of the many great Libraries around Westmeath! When I last checked there were no scheduled storytime events. But even still the junior section of the Library is a great way to spend an hour or two reading and choosing books, also your pre-schooler can join the library and choose their own books to borrow. Check out your local library to see upcoming events and news. They also have a good selection of books for kids that are starting to learn to read.

#2. Go swimming

Many of the swimming pools have dedicated times for Parent & Toddler Swims and/or specific baby pools or swimming areas for smaller children.

#3. Sign up for a class

There are a choice of classes for parents with babies or for little people, it’s a great way of making friends and learning new things.

#4. Play Centres and Pet Farms

PLAYVisit one of the play centres or pet farms in Westmeath, with dedicated soft play areas for preschoolers, this is a great way to spend a couple of hours and burn off some energy!

#5. Playgrounds

Visit the playground. Why not visit a new playground every week? There’s a good choice of places now around the county.

#6. Join a local Parent & Toddler Group.

There are many local groups throughout Westmeath that meet weekly. Parent and Toddler groups are a great way of young children to mix with children their own age and for parents to meet other local parents!

#7. Go to the Cinema

The Cinema is always good for a rainy day and cheaper tickets at the weekend clubs. Some cinemas also offer morning film showings where you can take baby along with you!

If you have a free day mid week a big advantage with getting out and about with preschoolers is that you can visit places at “off peak” times when older children are at school and popular places aren’t as busy!

#9. Go for a Walk
