If you’re visiting Galway with kids, be sure to make some time to visit the Cappagh Road Playground at Knocknacarra. It’s well worth the visit.

This playground has it all! Situated beside the beautiful Barna Woods and GAA Pitch, there is a large car park and loads of space for the kids to have a run about.

For the older kids there is a large, very high, wavy slide, this is separate to the main playground but visible from it.

In the main playground you’ll find

  • a zip wire
  • large climbing frame with a slide and firemans’ pole
  • 2 large swings
  • a smaller climbing frame with ropes/nets
  • a see-saw
  • a motorbike
  • 2 swings for younger kids and
  • a small slide with a house. Attached to this is another climbing frame with a beam and a moving drum, a bit like a really fast treadmill!
