Looking for a new walk to take the kids on? Carrabane Forest Walk near Athenry in Co. Galway is worth a visit.
We discovered this lovely Forest Walk this afternoon. It is a looped Forest Trail (gravel track – probably not ideal for buggies).
We took 2 boys 11 & 8 and our dog and explored. The track we took was about 30mins walking slowly.
The boys enjoyed walking along feeling they were in the middle of a wilderness – it is a bit over grown, so that added to the “adventure”.
There are lots of little streams that the dog explored! The trail crosses a river over a bridge and then you take another bridge back.
There are seats along the way and a picnic area.
It was a great find, very quiet and peaceful, we’ll be back!
Location:
Take the Old Athenry – Loughrea Road, and (coming from Athenry take a Left just before the Pub in Carrabane, there is a car park and you then follow the boreen down to the start of the trail.
