Nothing beats the atmosphere of a good Christmas Market with aromas in the air, Christmas music, cute gifts to browse and nice food to nibble on as you walk around. Here are some of the Christmas Markets in Ireland this year:
Experience the magic of Christmas at the Lidl Christmas Market at The Hunt Museum, from 4th to 7th December, where there will be food, a traditional carousel, mulled wine and even a chance to see Santa! There will also be a Christmas Courtyard Craft Fair running on 6th & 7th. Their Kids Art & Craft Class will run also run on 7th December.
2. Westport Shop n’ Spraoi na Nollag
Westport Shop’n’Spraoi na Nollaig, runs this year from 13th – 14th December. There will be an Artisan Crafts & Food Market and Live Entertainment over the three days and loads of great things for the small ones with children’s activities and the big man himself will pay a visit too!!
3. Galway Continental Christmas Market
The Galway Continental Christmas Market transforms Eyre Square in the heart of Galway City into a magical winter wonderland from 21st of November to the 22nd of December this year.
The atmospheric market will be a gift for the senses featuring traditional Bavarian and Irish Stalls, selling quality goods and to be enjoyed by all the family. Food, beverages and goods from all over Europe and a Santa’s Grotto. Read the Inside Scoop on the Market!
4. North West Christmas Wonderland
The North West Christmas Wonderland takes place Friday December 5th – Sunday 7th at the CPI Centre in Castlefinn. The Christmas Market will see all sorts of traditional stands in a Christmas Wonderland Setting.
5. Glow, a Cork Christmas Celebration
For festive fun in the run up to Christmas, head to Cork City for Glow, a Cork Christmas Celebration, which runs from 28 November to December 21st. The festival has something for everyone, from a mystical fairy village for kids, to an authentic indoor Crafts Exhibition & Fair, local artisan Food Markets, a 30 metre Ferris Wheel, vintage carousel, fantastic shopping and entertainment galore including a number of Christmas pantos.
6. Belfast Christmas Market
The ever popular Belfast Christmas Market is back offering a range of unique gifts, gourmet food and drink and don’t forget to pay Santa’s post-box a visit and send off your Christmas wish lists to the North Pole, as each child who posts their letter will receive an individual response from the ‘big man’ himself. Runs from 15 November – 21st December, Mon – Wed 10am – 8pm; Thu – Sat 10am – 10pm; Sun 1pm – 6pm at the Belfast City Hall grounds,
7. Dublin Christmas Market
Dublin Christmas Market will be held at St. Stephen’s Green, with more than 60 traders in traditional wooden chalets along the exterior of St Stephen’s Green Park. The Market will offer a unique selection of quality Irish made handcrafted gift items, as well as seasonal food and drinks. There will be entertainment from local choirs and carollers and runs daily from 13th Nov to 23rd December.
Winterval is back, and families will be thrilled to see Santa arrive into the City in a rather unusual manner on November 21st, along with the help of some jovial Elves and a rather large Ice-Berg! You can enjoy trips on Santa’s Horse Drawn Sleigh or the magical Winterval Express, the South Pole Enchanted Garden a snow fantasy in the Snowglobe, Toy Museum, Christmas markets, and lots more too.
9. Milk Market, Limerick
The Christmas Market at the Milk Market is a special event which builds upon the popularity of the weekly markets. Shoppers will experience wafting scents of spices and oils combining with the aroma of cooking, and Christmas Choirs will sing. Craft workers will explain their work, and there will be music from buskers from around the world. Runs from 28th November.
