The Lodges at Kenmare Bay Hotel & Resort are definitely a treat for both parents and kids.
I would describe them as "a cut above" the usual self-catering option, as they are stylishly decorated with the feel of a boutique hotel. We stayed in a 2 bedroom lodge with open plan living room, dining and kitchen (and toilet) on the ground floor and with 2 large bedrooms upstairs both en-suite. Mum & Dad got the room with the king size bed and our 2 shared the room with twin beds making up king size put together. Their room also had a little 2 seater sofa, making it perfect for them to play in. For us parents, it’s really a pleasure to stay somewhere that just has that slightly more luxurious touch as it feels less like a holiday house and more like a real treat for you too.
I noticed stair gates fittings are already installed ready for gates if required, with a travel cot on the landing, extra bedding in the linen cupboard if required. Other family-friendly bonus marks for the wipe-clean leather corner suite in the living room and plastic beakers, plates and cutlery for smaller fingers.
There's a small fenced in garden at the back with picnic table which is comfortingly safe for little people to wander in and out of. With a fully fitted kitchen complete with oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker and more, you can either cook in or eat at the hotel or wander down the pedestrian pathway into town – just a 5 minute stroll and easily buggy-friendly rather than taking the main road which can be busy.
Full use of the leisure facilities including pool and playground are included in your stay, as well as the dedicated play room in the hotel. Other family friendly features include a special kids corner in the dining room in the hotel which smallies will enjoy wandering over to during the meal. Staff are all welcoming and very kind and friendly to children, so it really does live up its reputation as a family friendly hotel and resort.
