Lettermullen playground in Galway is located next to Comhar Chuigéal Teo, which is a community Co-Op and was the driving force behind this project and it is sure to be a massive success. The playground is designed for children from the age of two to fifteen with a junior and senior area. There is also seating available so parents can relax while the children have fun and test out all of the equipment. The playground is opposite the Church and the national school so it is very easy to find
|In the Lettermullen playground children can practice their climbing skills on the combination units or the nest swing provides a comfortable haven for several children to explore the excitement of the traditional swing – in the comfortable pocket of the nest or try out the seesaw with friends!! As well as all of these activities there is spinning equipment in the playground. The spinner bowl and supernova are two of the most popular pieces of equipment and children can test their skills of balance and enjoy the spinning sensation. Children can’t get enough of the sensation of speed and spinning – they try again and again.|
The best way to describe the kind of play that takes place on the supernova is use your strength and hold your balance! The Supernova’s radical look proves to be a modern twist of the much loved round about. A single child can engage in exploring its possibilities, but together with a whole group of children, this play item expresses its real potential. The large, slanting ring is set in motion by the children. Turning, spinning, balancing or just enjoying the ride are among the countless play options of the Supernova. Both the spinner bowl and the supernova can aid children’s balance, co-ordination and spatial awareness which are essential to so many aspects of children’s growth and development.
