We asked a Mykidstime parent to take their kids to see Justin and the Knights of Valour. Here’s their honest opinion:
JUSTIN (Freddie Highmore) lives in a kingdom where bureaucrats rule and knights have been ousted.
His dream is to become one of the Knights of Valour, like his grandfather was, but his father REGINALD (Alfred Molina), the chief counsel to the QUEEN (Olivia Williams), wants his son to follow in his footsteps and become a lawyer.

We all thoroughly enjoyed it! Although we are slightly biased in this house as the kids tend to love anything that has fighting & weapons in it! This film seemed to strike the right balance between having lots of action but still not being too scary for the little ones.
My two boys (6 & 4) loved it, and there was enough humour in it for the grown-ups to enjoy it as well. Without giving too much away – look out for the alligator standing in for the dragon; its hilarious!
3D really enhanced the film, I’ve seen other kids films where it didn’t make much of a difference, and almost seemed an after-thought. The dragon & some of the fighting scenes were much better for being in 3D, so I’d really recommend to others to see it in 3D if they can.
There is also a feel good factor about this film – Justin starts off as being a slightly feeble character, who certainly wouldn’t make a good knight. Throughout the film he overcomes this, and you really see his confidence growing. As the mother of two young boys who aren’t always so sure of themselves, I think its great to have a film showing that not everyone is brave & strong all the time.
Rating
I asked my 6 year old how many stars he would give it out of 5 & he said 10! Highly recommend it..
