The FAI’s largest grassroots programme, the eFlow FAI Summer Soccer Schools enters its 18th year in 2014 and continues to provide children, between the ages of 6 and 14,with a fun filled week of activity during the summer holidays. Every year boys and girls of all abilities turn out to enjoy five days of fun and football. The camps are designed to cater for all players, regardless of ability.
Let’s Go Summer Camps
Let’s Go! is your No. 1 choice for action packed, fun filled summer camps. Let’s Go! Multi Activity Summer Camps operate in towns nationwide during the months of June, July and August for children aged five to thirteen years. Camps run Monday to Friday – 9:30am to 3.30pm daily. There are two programmes of activities, one for the 5-6 yrs and the second for the 7-13 yrs. These programmes have been designed by their expert team with the children in mind at all times. Let’s Go! iPad Camps are available at some venues, where they have combined the best elements of their traditional sports camp with the latest technology available through iPads.
Learn It Lego Education Summer Camps cover a variety of different themes such as Robotics, Mechanics Engineering, Construction, Science, Creativity. Whizzkids Discover IT Summer Camps are for kids aged 8 to 17 and mix indoor and outdoor action, with sports, code breaking & CSI so kids have a fun & varied day. Adventure Kayaking Camps with Canoeing Ireland, Dublin
The aim of the Adventure Kayaking Camps is to promote the sport of kayaking by introducing young people to it in a safe and fun environment and to progress those who enjoy the sport already, to have fun, learn a new sport, gain the basic skills (Level 1 or 2 skills award certificates will be gained). The camps take place at Canoeing Ireland Training centre on the Strawberry Beds in Lucan, weekly from June to August. Young Pirates camps for 8 to 12 year olds from 10am to 1pm daily while Young Captains for 13 to 16 year olds from 10am to 3pm daily.
Junior Songschool is chance for 8-12 year olds to spend some time at the National Concert Hall, learning about writing, performing and recording songs. Runs from Monday to Friday, with a free concert for family and friends on Thursday. Songschool runs for one week on 23rd June and 7th July, and is for secondary school students who are interested in writing and recording songs, performing them at a concert, making a video, learning about music technology, and meeting people who love music as much as they do… not to mention forming bands and having fun!
See them balance, see them beam! Camps at The Little Gym, Liffey Valley are provided by highly trained instructors who will guide the kids through a range of gymnastics skills and activities, fun games, arts & crafts, plus a snack time provided by The Little Gym! A fun day out for all.
The Cassidy Academy presents Sing Star Camp – an action packed performance camp for 6-14 year olds. Learn about vocal techniques, breathing & performance techniques through workshops & games. Imaginosity is the place to be during the school holidays. Campers will get the opportunity to learn new skills, express themselves through art, drama and dance, get creative, gain confidence, play throughout the museum every day, make new friends and above all have lots of fun! Camps are for 4-7yrs and run through July & August.
The Gaiety School of Acting has a variety of summer camps for kids of all ages this summer. Included are their Summer Drama Camp for 7-18yrs, or join the experts at the Make a Movie Camp, as they help you write, act, light and even do the sound in your very own movie. At the Musical Theatre Camp for 7-16 yrs, embark on a musical journey with you as the star through some of the world’s greatest musicals including Mamma Mia, Legally Blonde, The Lion King, Grease and Hairspray.
Pine Forest Arts Centre, Dublin
Set in the Dublin Mountains surrounded by woods and streams, the Pine Forest Art Centre runs fortnightly Art and Craft Camps from 10am – 4pm, during the summer months of June – August, for Juniors (5-12yrs), & Seniors (13-16yrs). Each student participates in a wide variety of Art and Craft Activities such as Pottery, Painting, Oil Painting, Modelling, Construction, Beading and lots more. Camps are held outdoors whenever the weather and the activity permits, and children go on forest trails during lunch time.
The Junior Einsteins Science Summer Camps contain amazing science activities and practical experiments designed to stimulate and inspire a love of science and learning. Using real scientific equipment they bring ‘real world science’ to their summer camps. Van Der Graff generators, Plasma balls, hovercrafts, dinosaur Digs, Bug hunts , Dry Ice & giant bubbles are only some of the excitement in store! All of their instructors are real scientists and are Garda checked and fully insured. The ‘Junior Einsteins’ make a variety of explosive & slimy pieces to proudly bring home such as a model glider, slime, instruments, rockets, rainbow glasses, smoke cannons, glowing gherkins and fossils. Runs in Dalkey on 4th & 11th August, and is suited to 6+yrs.
Secret Valley Wildlife Park summer camps run for 4 weeks, starting July 14, with the first 2 camp weeks for 4-6yr olds, and the 3rd and 4th camp weeks for 7+yrs. Camps will run from 10am to 2pm, and kids will enjoy a unique summer camp experience. There’s also an opportunity for split week packages if kids can only make a few days.

Camps at The Source, Tipperary
There’s plenty to choose from at The Source this summer, which has a great lineup of camps. The Source Youth Arts Summer programme, for 11-17yrs, runs from 30th Jun – 5th July. Suitable for 6+yrs, the Ballet Ireland Summer School runs from 7-11 July – kids will get to create a ballet with professional dancers, and this year’s theme is the Elves and the Shoemaker. Youths will work with some of the most experienced community arts workers in the country to design, write, rehearse, record and finally perform their own drama. There’s an Art Camp for 6-12yrs, from 14-18th July, with opportunity to try arts and crafts that may not have done before, led by qualified Art teacher and professional artist. Learn to unicycle, acrobalance and lots more circus skills at the week long Circus Summer School on 21st July, suited to 8+yrs.
The Hunt Museum, Limerick
Join in on the fun this summer, with the return of the award-winning Hunt Museum children’s summer camps! Camps run Mon-Fri from 10am – 4pm, through the months of July and August. Sign up for just one of the six, week-long programs or multiple! Kids will spend the day working on arts and crafts projects, as well as learning new games, stories, and fun facts! It is a great way for kids to spend time with their friends and make some new ones along the way. Ages 5+
Clare Jordan Ceramics, Limerick
The Kids Create Craft Summer Camp with Clare Jordan Ceramics takes place in July & August at the Limerick Craft Hub in Cecil Street. These great Summer Camps are fun, educational, friendly and offer creativity in a working studio with individual attention in design, creation and exhibition of your very own ceramic tabletop and sculpture and sterling silver jewellery. All materials and tools provided for 3 ceramic pieces and 2 stg. silver jewellery pieces. Ages: 6 yrs to Teens. For older kids, the Teen Create Craft Summer Camp runs from 10th-13th June, and again all materials provided for 3 ceramic pieces and 2 stg. silver jewellery pieces. No experience necessary.
Ballyhass Lakes, Cork (8-16 yrs)
Ballyhass Lakes & Activity Centre, Mallow runs a variety of summer camps, suited to 8+yrs. The Ballyhass Troopers Seniors Camp runs from 9:30am-4pm Mon-Fri during the month of July, and there’s plenty of activities both in and out of water including kayaking, abseiling, archery and lots more. If you would prefer a shorter day, the Ballyhass Battalion Camp for 8+ yrs, offers all the great activities of the Troopers camp but from 9:30am-1pm. For 14+yrs looking to advance their skills, and perhaps become an instructor, the Commanders Camp runs from 14-18th July.
Atlantic AirVenture Aviation Summer Camps (8+yrs)
Budding pilots or flight enthusiasts will love the aviation summer camps at Atlantic AirVenture in Shannon, Co Clare. At the 4 day Ace Aviation Camp, on 7th, 21st July & 5th Aug from 10am-1pm, 8-12 yrs olds can learn about the essentials of flight and aircraft using a combination of classroom lessons and practical fun Simulated Flight exercises and challenges. Aces also get to see and learn more about the Museum aircraft, get to sit in a cockpit, and even try out a full scale Boeing 737 NG flight simulator for a landing. To make a full day of flying fun, there’s an afternoon Aviation Art, Craft and Model Making Camp available after ACE Camp on selected weeks. Learn to Design an aircraft with KNEX and build Logo City Aircraft . Make a model under the guidance of a competition winning model maker and you can even design your own insignia and make a windsock too!
The Atlantic AirVenture 4 day Teen Academy is a unique way to explore aviation, and students will gain an inside view into the industry and to the skillsets required to succeed in this demanding but fascinating industry Combining daily tutorials from professionals in the field of Commercial Pilot, Aircraft Engineer, Aeronautical Engineer, Air Traffic Controller and others, as well as ground school and practical flight simulation exercises, with everyone getting a chance to land the B737 NG flight simulator. Runs from 28th – 31st July from 10am to 2pm

Language Camp West provides French and German language immersion courses combined with a full programme of adventure sports and activities. Camps take place in a beautiful setting on Achill Island are are suitable for teenagers. It’s a small, friendly school: 30 students maximum and small class sizes with an assigned mentor. Art in Galway
Art in Galway is running summer camps for 5-13yr olds, at various locations around Galway in July & August. The camps are organised and delivered by a qualified Art and Design teacher, and children can expect an exciting range of activities including: painting, drawing, 3D, and clay, to name a few. Each camp works from a theme and participants explore art concepts throughout the week culminating in a group exhibition on the Friday afternoon. These camps promise to be both educational and FUN! Discover the wonders of science at the Science 4 Summer Camp at the Aquarium in Galway, running in July & August. Each camp runs from Mon – Fri from 10am – 3pm and is suited to 7-12 yrs. Camps will include New Science Classes, Experiments, Design, Technology, Engineering at the Aquarium, Science on the Seashore, Knex Challenges, Animal Studies, Games, and Arts and Crafts. Classes and experiments will be held in the Explorers Laboratory, in the aquarium and on the seashore. Brigits Garden, Galway
Brigit’s Garden camps offer an excellent opportunity for children to get out of the house and into the great outdoors this summer. The Celtic Gardens, woodlands and meadows provide a unique setting for kids to explore the wonders of nature, guided by experienced staff. Fun with Nature camps are for 5-8yrs, and include nature games, bug hunts, art and crafts and lots more. Survival Skills is for 9-12yrs, and kids will get to cook outdoors, make a natural hut, nature crafts and lots more. See site for details.
Passport2Leisure camps offer a wide range of exciting sports and activities and are suitable for 6-14yrs. Participants will work in small groups (max 16) within their own age group. Michael Swift who runs the camps, is a professional rugby player, and along with his team, will give children the opportunity to play sports with some of their local heroes and get an introduction to activities they may not have experienced before like archery and lacrosse. Runs in July Mon-Fri from 9.30am – 3.30pm.
Power Soccer School of Excellence provides excellent soccer coaching for boys and girls in Galway and Mayo, training indoors from September to June and outdoors for Summer Camps in July and August. Boys and girls aged 3yrs up can join Power Soccer School of Excellence! The Little Kickers camp is for 3-4 yrs and runs Mon-Fri from 12 – 2 pm. The Mini Kickers is for 5-6 yrs and runs Mon-Fri from 10 am – 12 pm. The Main Camps are for 6+yrs, and run from 10 am-2 pm Mon-Fri.
Youth Academy Summer Camp, Sligo
The Youth Academy Summer Camp at St Angela’s College, Sligo is run in conjunction with NUI Galway and the Centre for Lifelong Learning, and will provide primary school students with a unique experience of university life. The Youth Academy is for high ability 4th, 5th and 6th class primary school students (those achieving top 5% in standardised tests in school). Places are extremely limited and are allocated on a first come first served basis. The Youth Academy Summer Camp runs for one week on 21st July, with students participating in one of five courses:
- Computer Programming, The Internet and Multimedia;
- Exploring Electronics: Building Cool Stuff with Arduino

Tips for Summer Camps
Mykidstime is run by parents round the country and we have also compiled our Top 10 Tips for Summer Camps, based on our experience! Things like checking whether they need a drink or snack with them or what the procedure is at pick up time. Each camp provider should have a child protection policy in place. Ask other parents for opinions on camps if it’s your child’s first summer camp year.
