The County Library is located behind the Square Shopping Centre opposite the Civic Theatre. It opened in December 1994 and the remodelled and extended library opened in April 2008. Its location at County Hall highlights its central role in the social and cultural life of the county.

It is a bright and spacious library with an adults’ , children’s and local studies section as well as a dedicated IT space, a conference room, digital training suite and an exhibition area.  The library has full wifi access and also comfortable and easy armchairs for you to just sit and relax.


The library can be reached by bus or by the LUAS. 

The LUAS red line terminus is located on Blessington Road between the Square Shopping Centre and the rear of the County Library.

The library can be reached using any of the bus routes that go to Tallaght Hospital or to the Square Shopping Centre including 49, 49a, 50, 65, 75, 76, 77, 77a, 201 and 202.  

Children’s Events/Activities

Toddler Time takes place on  Wednesdays at 10.30am – Play time, exercise, books and educational toys.

Junior Book Club meets once a month. Suitable for children aged 10-13 years.
