Put Yourself in the Picture at The Ark from March 19th to April 3rd. 100 Years on from 1916, the Ark are asking the children of Ireland to come along and create a portrait of themselves to Celebrate the Children of 2016. Through painting, sketching, drawing, photography or words, add yourself to their picture, Celebrating the Children of 2016. Get tips from some of Ireland’s top artists, who will be on hand to help.
FREE Entry – Pre booking advised.
Younger children (aged 2 to 4 years), can enjoy the Early Years Workshop – Look At Me! at The Ark from March 22nd to April 5th, with artist Jane Groves who introduces young children to simple portraiture.
Imaginosity are running Easter Camps for Kids on:
- 21st-25th March 2016 (March Easter Break): ‘Mad Hatter’ Camp
- 29th-1st April 2016 (March Easter Break): ‘Star Wars’ Camp
Spaces are limited for each camp, and so advance booking is advised. Camps can be availed of daily (€25) or weekly (€99), and run from 9.30am-1pm everyday (campers should bring their own lunch with them daily)..

National Museum of Ireland
The National Museum of Ireland Decorative Arts & History at Collins Barracks have a full line up of family events running over the Easter Break including:

Easter 1916 Rising Centenary Events
Head to Trinity College on March 15th for a reading of the 1916 Proclamation.
Easter Ceremonies at the GPO to make the centenary of The 1916 Rising will take place on March 27th.
On March 26th come to the Garden of Remembrance for a ceremony to remember all those who were killed in The 1916 Rising.
Join the Boys in Green on March 25th at the Aviva Stadium as they host Switzerland in an international soccer friendly.
Farmleigh House have their weekly Farmers Market on March 27th & 28th and have added some eggstra special Easter events including; kids art workshops, Easter egg hunts and quizzes, storytelling, puppet shows and music in the bandstand.
Check out the new exhibition at The Little Museum of Dublin by artist Feral McCarthy. 60 giant drawings & texts retell the fascinating story of the 1916 Easter Rising. The exhibition runs until April 24th 2016 and will appeal to children and adults alike.

Canoe Ireland are running fun Easter Kayak Camps during the Easter Break. They have a Junior, Senior and Advanced Weekly Camp on dates from March 21st to April 1st.
Pine Forest Arts Centre Easter Camps fun from March 21st to 25th. These fun Easter Courses are for children aged 8 to 16 years.
- The Chester Beatty Library have fun workshops for kids and teens running over the Easter Break. And have a FREE demonstration of Japanese Woodblock Printing on April 2nd.
- The Dublin Bay Prawn Festival takes place in Howth from March 18th to 20th. This great food festival is now in it’s 6th year and promises fun for all the family.

Get active in Fore on April 1st Where April One is all about Fun! With Jedi training, juggling, Zumba and circus skills workshops, this fun family event takes place in Fore, around a 3.5km route.
Hop along over to Lough Boora Discovery Park this Easter Saturday for the ultimate Bord Na Móna family event, the Boora Bunny Egg Hunt.
The race is on at Birr Castle on March 27th to find the hidden eggs in the annual Easter Egg Hunt.
Offaly 100 Together We Remember takes place on March 20th in Tullamore. It is an opportunity for all citizens of Offaly, and beyond, to come together to remember those from Offaly who fought for Irish Independence. Events include a ceremony of commemoration and candlelit walk from 5.45 to 6pm from the Courthouse, Tullamore followed by a FREE Centenary Concert from 7.30pm at the Church of the Assumption. Kings John Castle will commemorate the events of April 1916 with a Schools Competition 2016 where all students and schools are asked to create drama, a skit, music, song, dance, recital or poetry, artwork or an essay to commemorate the 1016 Easter Rising. All submissions must be in by March 11th 2016. Students can enter on an individual basis or with classmates. Performances of work will take place between March 14th and April 15th 2016.
King John’s Castle are also running a fun Easter Workshops for children on March 29th, 30th, and 31st 2016. Suitable for children aged 7+ the camps will incorporate Easter Arts & Crafts, Medieval Animation, Weaving & Textiles and 1916 Commemoration Activities. The Hunt Museum are running Easter Camps for children aged 5+yrs – an eggs-perience they won’t forget! This Easter the camps are Mad Hatter & March Hare Tea Party themed! This camp promises to be lots of fun -you will be hopping mad if you miss it!

Also at the Hunt Museum during the Easter Break KidsBrain are having a party to show kids that Maths was as fun thousands of years ago as it is today. Kids will get their brains going as they find out how ancient Japanese merchants used an abacus to make calculations and improve their own mental arithmetic. They will have an introduction on how to use a Soroban, do a Mad Maths Quest around the museum and then get to play lots of fun maths party games.
This is a drop-off session – 90 minutes workshop for 5-10yrs.
