Things to do with Kids in Galway this St Patricks Weekend


St Patrick’s Weekend that means it’s the middle of March!!! The year is speeding up.  Are you looking for activities for the kids in your area this St Patrick’s weekend?  Here are some of the Galway events taking place over the St Patricks weekend.

St Patricks Day Festival

This year’s St Patricks Day parade in Galway will start at 11.30am, 17th March 2014 on Lower Dominick Street (Monroes Pub) the parade will then move up Dominick Street over O’Briens Bridge up Shop Street and on to Eyre Square the parade will finish at Galway County Council Buildings.

The theme of the Parade for 2014 is, “The Sea” and Galway’s relationship with the sea will be brought to life throughout its medieval streets over the course of the Parade.

Following the Parade in Woodquay Square from 1:30pm to 3:30pm the St Patricks Festival in association with the Galway Dance Project will host a series of dance workshops and will be an alcohol free zone.  These will include: swing; tango; bachata; capoirea and also tai chi. Dancers will be performing at various times and will be inviting the public to take part.

They will also be hosting a Teddy Bears picnic for families in Woodquay Park in association with Enable Ireland. Music will be provided by Will Softly and will be an alcohol free zone.

Athenry St Patricks Day Parade

The annual Athenry parade will take place at 11:45 noon. The theme for 2014 is ‘Saints, Scholars & Scallywags’


St. Patricks Day parade will take place on Monday, March 17th at 12.30pm. This year’s parade in Clifden promises to be a day filled with family fun with lots of additional activities this year, to include face painting, children’s disco, surprise treats, fun and games. The 2014 parade sees the introduction of a special prize category for the Best Dressed Dancing Leprechaun.

Loughrea St Patricks Day Parade

The Loughrea parade will take place on Monday, March 17th 2014 at 1pm sharp, with the theme of ‘Sonas (means happiness)’ this year.

Oranmore St Patricks Day Parade

On Monday March 17th Oranmore will be hosting is annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade will take place at 3.30pm in Main Street, Oranmore.

Roundstone St Patricks Day Parade

A Saint Patricks Day Parade will take place in Roundstone. All proceeds will be donated to Cancer Care West.
