Its February already! Are you looking for activities for children this Mid-Term Break? There's plenty of family friendly events taking place in Dublin & Wicklow. Here are some of the events that caught our eye for Mid-Term Break!
The Ark, Temple Bar
The Ark are running a range of events over the next couple of months.
Big Bad Wolf Theatre Workshops – Running from 12th – 17th February, Children aged 5-7 can join actor Niamh McGrath for an active workshop packed with creative theatre and storytelling games. Each workshop will finish with the children’s own scratch performances of the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale.
Mandscape Art Exhibition – Running from 12th – 16th February, Mandscape is a stunning art exhibition for families featuring images of cities, and images of the natural world where mankind has left his trace. The artworks have been selected to engage children, and to act as a staring point for rich conversations and questions between children and adults. An audio guide to the exhibition will be provided to help you get the most from your visit.
The Little Gym
The Little Gym, Liffey Valley are having a mid-term camp on Thursday, February 14th and/or Friday, February 15th from 11:30am-2:30pm. There will be lots of fun, games, gymnastics/sports, and tons of activities at The Little Gym!
Pine Forest Art Centre
The Pine Forest Art Centre are holding a Mid-Term Art & Craft Day on 14th February from 10am – 4pm. Each student participates in a wide variety of Art and Craft Activities including, pottery, painting and collage to mention but a few.
They are divided into groups of their own age during classes and at break times there are mountain walks and trails. Suitable for 5 – 16 year olds.
2013 Angling Show
Bring the children and learn all about fishing at the Ireland 2013 Angling show! This takes place on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th February at the National show centre, Swords, Co. Dublin.
- Prehistoric Ireland examining the materials, form, decoration and function of artifacts from the Neolithic to the Iron Age period connected to the Leaving Cert Art curriculum.
- Early Christian & Medieval Ireland examining the materials, decoration, form and function of Irish metalwork from the 8th to the 12th century.
Hamleys have daily activities from 9th-17th February, including story-telling, face painting, Hamleys Hunt, and Arts & Crafts. There will also be a Giddy Studios Valentines Day workshop on 14th February 2-3pm.
Enjoy a great Value Family Day Out at the Powerscourt Waterfall, the highest waterfall in Ireland. Save €5.50 with their family ticket which offers entry to the waterfall for 2 adults and up to 3 children for €16.
Discover trees that are hundreds of years old such as the Giant Redwoods, which are native to Northern California and grow up to 80m high!
Head for a walk and soak up the natural environment. Wildlife at the waterfall includes Cuckoos, Chaffinches, Deer and Red Squirrels and as spring is here it's a great time to head to the great outdoors.

There is a huge selection of play centres in the area, great fun for the kids if the weather is wet. From slides to climbing walls, bowling to Quasar, the kids are sure to be entertained!
