The Galway Continental Christmas Market takes place at Eyre Square in Galway. We asked Katie Shackleton, Operations Manager to tell us why families should go.
Galway Continental Christmas Market – What can parents expect this year?
Expect a sparkling winter wonderland in the heart of Galway City. The Continental Christmas Market is located in Eyre Square from the 21stNovember – 22nd December and offers all manner of festive treats.
Santa and his elves have taken up residence in the Grotto, Christmas Carols will be in the air and if the grown-up want to enjoy something that’s naughty and nice they can warm their hands on a cup of mulled wine!
What are you most looking forward to going on yourself at it?
This year we have a really fantastic community and arts based entertainment programme. We have teamed up with schools, charities and a plethora of local talent to bring you a jam-packed schedule of events that are zany and fun, and that give back to local communities.
Some of the highlights include: a magical lantern parade through the city, a wishing tree, children’s story telling, Christmas Carol singing and free kids workshops.
Is there anything particularly unique or special that we should definitely not miss?
Make sure you don’t miss our spectacular opening ceremony on Friday the 23rd. We’re inviting everybody to come along and kick-start the holiday season in style. Join us for an evening of events, including performances from some of Ireland’s biggest music acts (we’re not telling – it’s a surprise!) as well as Santa’s arrival and the magical moment when the lights begin to twinkle and Christmas really begins.
Tell us in 5 words why we should go?
Because Santa’s coming to town!
