What To Do on a Rainy Day

It’s raining outside again (common occurrence in Ireland!) and you’ve exhausted your ideas of things to do! Here are some ideas for what to do on a rainy day with kids:

Make your own Movie Time!

Kids love the movies, and snuggling up in front of a movie at home is one of the nicest things to do on a rainy day!

Why not Create your Own Home Cinema, and let the kids get involved in setting up the “cinema”, from arranging the seating, to making tickets.

We also have some great suggestions for movies to watch with the kids, from our Top Ten Classic Movies to Watch with Kids, and our Top Ten non-Disney Movies to Watch with Kids.

Get Active on a Rainy Day

Just because it’s raining and you are stuck indoors, there is no reason not to get active, and expend some energy!

We have some great ideas for Indoor Activities for Kids on Rainy Days from Danceathons to Obstacle Courses, to Step Aerobics and lots more!

Or why not while away a few hours with our Indoor Treasure Hunt. All you need is a camera and printer to setup your clues. Try and get as much exercise into the hunt as possible, by making them run upstairs/downstairs for the next clue.

Be Creative

Rainy Days are a great time to let the kids get creative. So cover the kitchen table in your old tablecloth, dress the younger kids in old t-shirts/art aprons and let the children get painting, glueing and cutting!

How about Making a Collage, which is a great way to use up old magazines, and let the children practice their cutting and scissor skills!

We have lots of other creative ideas in our Arts & Crafts Section.

Cooking with Kids

Rainy Days are also ideal for trying out some cooking with kids.

Why not try making homemade pizza with them, which taste all the better when you have made them yourself!

We have lots of other recipe ideas in our Food & Recipes section too.
