Which OPW Heritage Ireland Sites are Open to Visitors

The OPW has partially re-opened areas at many of its Heritage Sites so we have put together the list of which OPW Heritage Ireland sites we can now visit.

The Government has announced information on OPW Heritage Ireland sites with details of what is open at each site, and also special times for cocooners.


Some sites will have to operate at reduced capacity in order to safely achieve social distancing. Other Heritage Ireland/OPW Sites not listed here will remain under review. OPW will continue to work to re-open sites where possible over coming weeks and months.

Altamont, Carlow

Gardens & Parkland and Car Park are open.

Arbour Hill Cemetery, Dublin

Full site now open.

Bective Abbey, Meath

Full site now open.

Blaskets, Kerry

Parklands & Car Park is open with the Ionad/Visitor Centre, Café & Bookshop opening from June 29th.

Brú Visitor Centre, Meath

Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery, Sligo

Grounds only open.

Casino, Dublin

The Casino Parkland & Car Park are open.

Castletown House, Kildare

Parklands and Car Park open. Castletown House opens 29th June.

Céide Fields, Mayo

Grounds only open.

Charles Fort, Cork

Grounds and certain buildings open now with remainder of site opening 29th June.

Clonmacnoise, Offaly

Partial access now available to the grounds and certain buildings.

Corlea Trackway, Longford

Partial access open from 29th June.

Cong Abbey, Mayo

Grounds only open.

Conna Castle, Cork

Grounds only open.

Derrynane, Kerry

Gardens, parklands, car parks are open with Café and Museum/House opening from 29th June.

Doneraile, Cork

Parklands are open, the House and Gardens will open from 29th June.

Dublin Castle

Gardens are open with the Castle reopening from 29th June.

Dún Aonghasa, Galway

Pathways open from 29th June

Drombeg Stone Circle, Cork

Full site now open.

Emo Court, Laois

Things to do in Laois with kids

Parklands are open, the Formal Gardens have special times for cocooners 10am-1pm. Guided tours of the grounds start from 29th June.

Ennis Friary, Clare

Grounds are now open.

Farmleigh, Dublin

Gardens, Parklands & Car Park are open. Guided tours of the grounds and Farmleigh Galleries from 29th June.

Fore Abbey, Westmeath

Full site now open.

Fota Arboretum, Cork

Pleasure Gardens and Walled Gardens have special times for cocooners 10am-1pm.

Gallarus Oratory, Kerry

Site now open.

Garden of Remembrance, Dublin

Garden is now open.

Garinish Island, Cork

Garinish Island has limited visits from July 3rd with a limited offering from the café.

Glebe, Donegal

Parklands & Car Park are open and the Glebe Galleries will be open from 29th June.

Glendalough, Wicklow
