Does your child have dyslexia? Do they ever feel isolated, frustrated, or like they don’t quite fit in? This short, motivational video was made by a 12-year-old girl and it’s a message every dyslexic child — and every parent — deserves to see.
No matter who you are or where you come from, anything is possible. That’s the message behind this video from Isley, an Australian girl who created it to capture the frustrations of living with dyslexia — and to show how many people with dyslexia have gone on to achieve incredible things.
What Is Dyslexia?
The Dyslexia Association of Ireland describes dyslexia as a specific learning difficulty that makes it harder for some people to learn to read, write and spell correctly.
Dyslexic difficulties exist on a continuum from mild to severe and affect a significant proportion of the population. Children with dyslexia can experience greater stress and frustration as they try to keep up, which sometimes leads to heightened anxiety, particularly around reading and writing tasks at school.

Like a Dyslexic
To get her message out to as wide an audience as possible, Isley sent her video to Richard Branson — who is dyslexic himself — and he shared it with his followers.
Watch it below. It’s a genuinely uplifting look at accomplished people from all walks of life, including plenty of familiar faces, who all have one thing in common: dyslexia never held them back. Keep watching to the end — you might be surprised by who turns up.
What Did You Think?
Videos like this one are a lovely way to start a conversation with your child about dyslexia — what it means, and how it doesn’t define what they can achieve. If your child struggles with reading, writing or spelling, know that support is available, and that so many successful people share the same learning difference.
