If someone told you David Beckham spends his downtime building LEGO, you might be surprised – but the football star and dad-of-four is a genuine LEGO enthusiast. His Instagram feed has shown him taking on some seriously big builds over the years, and one of the most memorable was for his princess-mad daughter Harper: 4,000 pieces later, he’d built her the LEGO Disney Castle.
The Build, Piece by Piece
Beckham shared a photo to Instagram showing him surrounded by all 4,080 pieces of the LEGO Disney Castle, captioned: “Page 1 of the Disney castle, 4000 pieces 490 pages of instructions I look confused but I’m so excited.”
A few days later, he posted a photo of the finished castle, captioned: “1am done… Someone’s gonna have a nice surprise in the morning 👸 zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ❤️”
This wasn’t Beckham’s first big LEGO project. He’s previously spoken about how building LEGO helps him unwind, telling The Sunday Times that it “helps to calm me down.” Around that time, his big build was the LEGO Tower Bridge set – a whopping 4,287 pieces.
Even earlier, Beckham took on the LEGO Taj Mahal, a set with a staggering 5,922 pieces. His enthusiasm for the model reportedly gave sales of that particular set a serious boost.
LEGO Sets for Adults
If Beckham’s builds have you tempted to try a big LEGO project of your own, there are plenty of adult-friendly sets to choose from. The LEGO Architecture range offers sets based on iconic buildings around the world, including landmarks like the Guggenheim Museum, Buckingham Palace, the Arc de Triomphe, the Burj Khalifa and the Eiffel Tower.
The LEGO Creator Expert range is another great option, with a collection of more challenging builds – from a moving carousel to an iconic VW camper van. A rotating ferris wheel is also part of the line-up, and it’s a real showstopper once finished.
