Remember when the first full trailer for Disney’s Aladdin live action movie dropped? It caused quite a stir. Some fans weren’t sure about the casting when it was first announced, but once this trailer landed, opinions started to shift.

The original Aladdin movie will always have a soft spot in our hearts – one of our team’s younger sisters was OBSESSED with it as a toddler and it was permanently playing in the house growing up. Watching it again years later with her own daughter, she was surprised to find she still knew every single word – seriously, all of them! It seems Aladdin and The Sound of Music are the films locked into our subconscious for emergencies.
When Disney added Aladdin to its line-up of live action remakes, nobody was quite sure what to expect. The trailer gave fans their first proper look at how the new version would compare with the animated original.

Aladdin Live Action: The Details
The movie was directed by Guy Ritchie, who brought plenty of his signature action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah.
The film starred Will Smith as the Genie; Mena Massoud as Aladdin; Naomi Scott as Jasmine; Marwan Kenzari as Jafar; Navid Negahban as the Sultan; Nasim Pedrad as Dalia (a new character and friend of Jasmine); and Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders.
‘Never Had a Friend Like Me’ and ‘A Whole New World’, two of the most iconic songs from the original movie, made a reappearance in this trailer. Fans were also glad to see eight-time Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken return to provide the reworked musical score, alongside two brand new songs written especially for the remake.
The film went on to hit cinemas in May 2019, but this trailer is still a fun watch for any Disney fan looking back at how it all began. Take a peek at the first full-length trailer here:
