Most are free to visit, and several sit close to other family-friendly attractions, so you can easily build a full day out around them.

Here are some of our favourite playgrounds in Roscommon to visit.

Boyle Pleasure Gardens

There’s a lovely safe, enclosed playground within Boyle Pleasure Gardens, with swings, slides and climbing equipment for the kids to enjoy while you relax in the gardens.

Ballaghderreen Playground

Ballaghderreen Playground is located on Convent Road, beside the national school, and has a good selection of play equipment for children of different ages.

Lough Key Forest and Activity Park

Lough Key Forest & Activity Park near Boyle is home to a wonderful playground for younger children called the Adventure Play Kingdom, packed with stimulating equipment and activities. As well as the playground, the wider park has lovely woodland walks, and it’s worth checking the Lough Key website before your visit for current opening times, family events and admission pricing.

Roscommon Town Park Playground

Local mum Clár is a big fan of this one: “It’s closed off, very secure and private, and there’s a lake with ducks and then the castle (Roscommon Castle). It’s just such a beautiful park, well worth a visit.”

Strokestown Playground

Strokestown Playground is located on the Boreen Road in Strokestown. It’s fully enclosed with a fence and offers a nice range of equipment, including swings, climbing frames, a seesaw and a roundabout.
