A simple photo flower craft kids can make for Mother's Day. Easy materials, step-by-step method, and a gift Mum will treasure.

This Cute Picture Craft Makes a Perfect Present for Mother’s Day

Looking for an easy Mother’s Day present your child can make themselves? These photo flowers are simple, sweet, and genuinely adorable — and younger children can join in just as easily as older ones.

Little hands can carefully cut out the flower shape and stick down a photo of themselves at the centre. If you have older children in the house too, they can lend a hand and bring the little ones in on making this special present. There’s no nicer gift for Mum than a keepsake the kids made together.

What You’ll Need

  • Heavy paper or light card
  • Glue stick
  • Photos
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Green pipe cleaners, one for each flower (or drinking straws)
  • Ribbon (optional)

Method

1. Cut photos into circles to be used as the centre of the flower.

2. Cut simple flower shapes out of card.

3. Glue the photo circle to the centre of the flower.

4. Tape a pipe cleaner or straw securely to the back of the flower.

5. Trim the ends of the pipe cleaner or straw to the length you’d like, depending on what you’re using as a vase.

6. If making a handheld bouquet instead, don’t trim the pipe cleaners or straws — simply gather them together and tie a ribbon bow around the bunch.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ages does this craft suit?

It’s perfect for a wide age range. Very young children may need help cutting the photo and flower shapes, while older siblings can take on the cutting and assembly and help the little ones stick everything down.

Can we make more than one flower?

Yes — making a small bunch is a lovely option. Make several flowers, gather the stems together, and tie them with a ribbon for a handheld bouquet instead of trimming the stems for a vase.

What can we use instead of pipe cleaners?

Drinking straws work just as well as stems if you don’t have pipe cleaners to hand.

Do we need any special materials?

No — everything on the list is easy to find at home or pick up cheaply: card, a glue stick, scissors, tape, and something to use as a stem.
