More than 58,000 of the tests were distributed across the UK. Ireland was not thought to be directly affected, but tests bought in Northern Ireland, or ordered online, could potentially be part of the faulty batch.

The manufacturer confirmed that the affected lot of Clear & Simple Digital Pregnancy Tests produced a small number of false positive results — meaning some tests indicated a pregnancy when the person was not, in fact, pregnant.

Are You Affected By the Pregnancy Test Recall?

The affected batch is catalogue number DM-102 and lot number DM10220170710E, with an expiry date of January 2020. Only this specific lot number was affected — not all Clear & Simple Digital Pregnancy Tests.

You can find the lot number printed on the end of the box and on the individual test sachet.

“It is important people check the lot number of any Clear & Simple Digital Pregnancy Tests they have purchased, to see if they have a product from an affected lot,” said Dr Duncan McPherson, MHRA’s Clinical Director of Medical Devices at the time of the recall. “If you have any questions about using digital pregnancy tests, please speak to your healthcare professional.”

If you have one of the recalled tests, the advice was to use an alternative testing method and return the affected test to the pharmacy or shop where it was purchased.
