Beaker Creatures is a science-themed collectible toy line from Learning Resources that combines the fun of collecting with hands-on experiments, helping to build skills and spark curiosity in children as young as five. Find out what mum of two Caroline thought of Beaker Creatures.
What are Beaker Creatures?
After travelling through space from their tiny distant planets, the Beaker Creatures have landed on Earth in search of science adventures!
Within each mysterious Reactor Pod lurks a tiny traveller from one of five distant planets, come to Earth in search of learning fun. There are 35 collectible Creatures to gather, including 5 super-rare gold Creatures.
To reveal the Creature, kids place the Reactor Pod in the Super Lab chamber and pump in the reactor liquid using the hydroplungers — triggering a bubbling, fizzing reaction that reveals the Beaker Creature hidden inside.
Children will love extracting them from their Reactor Pods, identifying them with the classification card, and exploring their worlds through fun facts and cool experiments.
Beaker Creatures sets double as working lab sets, complete with included science experiments — like alien slime — that encourage hands-on learning.
What Our Testers Thought
Caroline, her daughter Grace (8) and her son Fionn (5) tested Beaker Creatures for us at their home. Here’s what they had to say:
“There was great excitement when the Beaker Creatures box arrived. We had a green and red pod, so the kids were happy with the colours! The extraction process is great, very visually impressive, and the kids loved how the liquid bubbled over the top on each of them. It took a few minutes for the creature to reveal itself, so while we waited we spoke about the poster and all the different types of Beaker Creatures you could collect.
The pods are well wrapped up and sealed, so parents will need to help kids get things together initially — but that made it even more of a learning experience for them, as they had lots of questions and it got me involved.
I like that you can use the set beyond the extraction of the creatures. It’s a nice, appealing way to bring science to the kids.” — Caroline
“The creatures are cool and I loved mixing colours.” — Grace (8)
“I loved the fizzy bubbles everywhere.” — Fionn (5)
Final Verdict
A great way to introduce STEM to little people.
