Everyone’s favourite family of superheroes had families everywhere cheering when Incredibles 2 landed in cinemas in June 2018, fourteen years after the original film first won hearts. If you’re planning a family movie night or introducing the Incredibles to a new generation of little superhero fans, get in on the action and watch the trailer below to see what all the fuss was about.
What’s the Story?
Incredibles 2 puts Helen (voiced by Holly Hunter) in the spotlight as the family’s new frontline superhero, while Bob stays home with Violet and Dash to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” family life. It’s a tricky transition for everyone — made trickier by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers.
When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and their old friend Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again — which turns out to be easier said than done, even when you’re all Incredible.
Who’s in the Cast?
Alongside Holly Hunter and Samuel L. Jackson, the film brought together a stellar voice cast: Craig T. Nelson reprising his role as Mr Incredible, along with Sarah Vowell, Huck Milner, Sophia Bush, Jonathan Banks, Catherine Keener, Isabella Rossellini and John Ratzenberger.
Why It’s a Family Movie Night Favourite
Incredibles 2 is a firm favourite for family movie nights — plenty of action for the kids, plenty of heart and humour for the grown-ups, and a story about balancing family life and big responsibilities that parents will quietly relate to. If your children haven’t seen it yet, the trailer above is a great way to get them excited before settling in with the popcorn.
