How do you protect yourself and your loved ones in the water this summer? Tom Agapiades tells us about Kingii, a clever inflatable wristband that’s aiming to become a new standard in water safety.

What is it?

KingiiThis is Kingii — the smallest inflatable of its kind. It’s worn as a wristband, and it’s revolutionising how people think about water safety.

If an emergency happens in the water, the wearer simply pulls the lever and a bag deploys, bringing them to the surface and helping them float there. The bright orange balloon and the attached emergency whistle then let them signal for help.

Who is it for?

150624_Kingii_0783Kingii is designed for anyone who loves being in or near water — young to old.

The recommendation is for children aged six or older. Kids tend to like wearing the device once they understand how it works — many find it feels a bit like a secret-agent gadget, which helps take the fear factor out of water safety gear.

Why is it different?

Most of us are used to wearing safety gear for everyday activities — a helmet on a bike, a seatbelt in the car. But water safety has often felt like an all-or-nothing choice: either you’re wearing a bulky life jacket, or you’re wearing nothing at all. Did you ever see someone playing ball on the beach in a full life jacket?

Kingii’s approach is to offer something small, convenient and non-intrusive — safety gear that doesn’t get in the way of having fun.

Safety, convenience, peace of mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

What age is Kingii suitable for?

It’s generally recommended for children aged six and up, though it’s designed to suit swimmers of all ages.

How does Kingii work?

The wearer pulls a lever on the wristband, which triggers an inflatable bag to deploy. This helps bring the wearer to the surface and keeps them floating there until help arrives.

Is Kingii a replacement for adult supervision?

No safety device replaces active supervision around water. Kingii is designed as an extra layer of protection and reassurance, not a substitute for watching children closely near water.

Where can I find out more about Kingii?

Check the Kingii website and social channels for current product details and availability, as these can change over time.
