Each Christmas, a team from the North Pole sets up a training camp in Croke Park, preparing for their big journey on Christmas Eve — and they love visitors dropping in to see how preparations are going.
On the Santa Experience, families join the Ice Patrol for a peek inside the North Pole GAA Elf Dressing Rooms before heading to the Skills Zone for some festive games. Then it’s on to Santa’s Croke Park cabin to meet the man himself, with a photo opportunity and a small GAA-themed gift for every child. A visit also usually includes access to the GAA Museum, the Junior Explorer passport trail, and a chance to write and post a letter to Santa at Cú Chulainn’s Den.

IRE Elves at the International Rugby Experience, Limerick
Santa has been keeping a close eye on Limerick, drawn by the panoramic city views from the International Rugby Experience — and by the perfect hidden spot for a secret workshop.
Visitors are welcomed into a twinkling world of festive fun, descending to meet Santa’s special helpers, the IRE Elves, as they bustle about crafting toys and treats. Families get to lend a hand putting the finishing touches to gifts before meeting Santa himself for a festive photo and a proper dose of Christmas cheer.

Christmas Elf Trail at Birr Castle Demesne
Birr Castle Demesne runs a lovely, low-key Christmas Elf Trail through the gardens each December. Families search for the resident Elf and Reindeer’s lost name, picking up a trail sheet and pencil at reception before heading off to hunt for letters — with a sweet treat at the end for completing the North Pole Mission.
The Elf Trail is usually included in general admission, and pre-booking isn’t normally essential, though it’s worth double-checking opening times and any booking requirements on the day. Note that the trail doesn’t include access inside the castle or a meet-and-greet with Christmas characters.
Decorate Your Own Gingerbread Man With the Elves at Irish National Stud
Each December, the team at Irish National Stud and Gardens run a gingerbread decorating session with their Head Chef and her busy elves, giving children the chance to decorate their own gingerbread man to bring home and hang on the tree.

Elf Fun at Castlecomer Discovery Park

Christmas is always a special time at Castlecomer Discovery Park, which opens for winter walks throughout the season. The Elf Village becomes Christmas central, with fairy houses lit up beautifully — a wonderful spot for a winter walk followed by a hot chocolate from the Canopy Café.
The bouncing nets and Junior Adventure Course (for kids aged roughly 3–8) are also usually open, letting little ones burn off some pre-Christmas energy, with the Junior Woodland Course now revamped for even more fun. There’s also an Elf on the Shelf–style scavenger hunt, with mischievous elves hiding all around the village for children to find.
