  • Once fully cooled, sieve over a small amount of icing sugar to finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make these biscuits without a piping bag?

A piping bag and star nozzle give the classic shape, but you can also spoon small rounds of the mixture onto the tray using a teaspoon if you don’t have one. They won’t have the same ridged pattern, but they’ll taste just as good.

Why do the biscuits need to cool on the tray first?

The biscuits are very soft and fragile straight out of the oven. Letting them firm up on the tray for about 20 minutes before moving them helps them hold their shape instead of breaking apart.

How long will these biscuits keep?

Once fully cooled, store them in an airtight container. They’re best enjoyed within a few days, though timing can vary depending on your kitchen conditions.

Can I flavour the biscuit dough?

Yes — this basic butter biscuit mixture is a lovely base for adding a little vanilla extract, lemon zest, or a dusting of cocoa powder if you’d like to experiment.
