Why We Love Christmas FM

Entirely funded through sponsorship and staffed by volunteers, Christmas FM will be celebrating its 14th year on air this year and has raised almost €2.7 million for a range of wonderful charities. Broadcasting almost nationwide, the station is listened to by almost 1 in 3 adults – and more than a few kids!

Thanks to sponsors and partners who cover the costs of running the station each year, 100% of listener donations go to the annual charity partner.

Christmas FM’s Charity Partner

Christmas FM charity partner ALONE (1)

Each year Christmas FM partners with an official charity partner – this year, it’s the turn of Barnardos, the organisation that supports older people to age at home.

The radio station is aiming to raise over €250,000 which will go directly towards Barnardos’ mission of working to give vulnerable children living in disadvantaged communities a better chance – because childhood lasts a lifetime.

Barnardos is a trauma informed organisation working directly with about 18,000 children and their families every year across its 45 projects. Their aim is to deliver services and work with families, communities, and partners to transform the lives of vulnerable children who are affected by adverse childhood experiences.

Christmas FM’s listener donations raised for Barnardos will be used to provide targeted and intensive support for over 5,000 children most in need – providing nutritious food, support with education, and therapeutic services with their trained support teams.

Christmas FM is on-air thanks to more than 100 volunteer presenters and staff each year, and funded by various sponsors – which ensures all on-air fundraising and donations will go directly to Barnardos.
