The Nameberry popularity list tallies the most-visited of their baby name pages since the beginning of 2015. Rather than tracking names given to babies last year, it registers which baby names are attracting the most interest from expectant parents right now — which may translate to popular usage over the coming years.
Unusually Atticus has topped the list for boys so far this year, due no doubt to the release of the long awaited follow-up to the classic Harper Lee book “To Kill A Mockingbird”. It has knocked the longtime favourite, Asher, off the top of the list.
And Charlotte is the most popular girl’s name this year, most likely due to the birth of Princess Charlotte in Britain. This is followed by Amelia (UK favourite) and Olivia (US favourite).
