I am the type of person who has notes everywhere and can never find what I am looking for when I need it!
I have lists in a notebook beside my laptop, scribbles on the backs of old envelopes with recipes, shopping lists, phone numbers and really important things I shouldn’t forget on random pieces of paper, appointments in my phone calendar and on my laptop, basically chaos!
If this sounds like you or if getting more organised is on your new year to do list, then read on to see if bullet journaling could help you become more organised this year.
What is Bullet Journaling
Bullet Journaling, or BuJo for those in the know, is a visual way for you to easily organise your day, month, future tasks or just your every day life lists.
It is an easy, fun, customisable way to keep everything in one place so you can stay on top of tasks, keep a record of important dates and other items that you need in your everyday life. And best of all, you only need a notebook and pen to get started and a little bit of creativity to make it look pretty.
Why Would I Use Bullet Journaling?
The bullet journaling method, which was developed by Ryder Carroll, involves the user organising their notes, events, tasks and plans into neat collections and logs. Some users have described bullet journaling as a ‘mindfulness practice, disguised as a productivity system’. A positive and hopeful way to begin a new year for sure.
If you, like me, aren’t the most organised person or you just fancy getting even more organised this year, then bullet journaling is a fun and inexpensive way to give it a go.
How Do I get Started With Bullet Journaling?
Buy a notebook and some nice pens. It really is that simple. Schoolbooks.ie have some great options to get you started.
Once you have your notebook you can decide what you will be using it for. You might just want to organise your day-to-day stuff or have a specific event that you need to plan well for, like a house move, wedding, big exam year or basically anything you need to be organised to complete.
There are vast resources on the internet and on YouTube on different setups for your bullet journal and how to get started. Follow the simple principles in the video above and you will wonder how you managed without your bullet journal up to now!
