Kids may be going crazy for slime but I think it’s fair to say parents are going crazy about slime getting everywhere! Here are some top tips for how to get slime off clothes, carpet, sofa, hair and more…

Slime is one of those things that seems to turn up in the most unexpected places!

If your children are as obsessed with the ooey, gooey delight (or regularly make their own homemade slime), you are probably familiar with the joy that comes from picking bits of multicoloured flecks from your furniture. But, rest assured, a few household cleaners can help remove it from clothes, carpets and plenty more.

  4. If you still have residue, add some dish soap to the slime area and rub together until clean.

How to Get Slime Out of Hair

Never mind chewing gum, here’s how to get slime out of hair. You’ll need some vinegar and warm water. Your child might want to wear swimming goggles to protect their eyes.

If there is a big clump of slime, try to remove as much as you can from the hair. Sit your child with their head over the sink or in the bathtub with your shower head to hand. Wash their hair with the warm water and vinegar. Rinse and repeat. Gradually the vinegar solution should loosen the slime off the hair. But it might take a few goes to get it out.

How to Get Slime Off the Sofa

You’ll need:

  • towel or paper towels
  • a spoon
  • some rubbing alcohol

What to do:

  1. Apply the alcohol to the stain.
  2. Use the spoon to apply the alcohol and then to scrape off the now-wet slime
  3. Dab the towel on to help dry the alcohol and lift more of the leftover slime bits.
  4. Repeat the process.

How to Get Slime Off Walls

You’ll need:

  • paper towels
  • a spoon or butter knife
  • baking soda
  • vinegar
  • warm water
  • rubber gloves
  • a towel

What to do:

  1. Take off any excess slime. If it’s still wet, use a paper towel or pick it gently off the wall with your fingers. If it’s dry, gently scrape it off using a spoon or butter knife.
  2. Make up a paste of baking soda and water. Add a small amount of vinegar for extra cleaning power.
  3. Mix the baking soda, water and vinegar slowly until the paste thickens. If it’s still a bit thin, add more baking soda.
  4. Put down a towel or paper towels on the floor below where the stain is to catch any drips onto the floor.
  5. Wearing the rubber gloves, apply the paste mix onto the stain, you want the paste to cover the top of the stain.
  6. Allow the paste to dry – this will take up to 2 hours.
  7. Once the paste is dry, brush it off with a paper towel.
