Set in the heart of the New Forest at Minstead in Hampshire, Furzey Gardens was established in 1922 and is loved for its year-round beauty. Tiny fairy doors appear at the base of countless trees, and kids will enjoy a beautiful day out with magic around every corner.

Fairy Wood at National Botanic Garden of Wales
If you’re very quiet as you enter the wood at the start of the Welsh Country Walk at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, you might just spot a trace of garden magic.
Hidden among the trees are remnants of a fairy tea party, a toadstool village, and hints of the wood’s pint-sized residents. You’ll also find a woodland xylophone and mud kitchen to play with.
The Blue Pool and Tea Rooms, Dorset
The Blue Pool and Tea Rooms in Dorset is one of our favourite fairy trails in the UK. The trail follows the edge of the magical colour-changing water, which only adds to the mystery of the fairies.
Once you’ve found all the fairies and their doors and completed the trail, there’s a certificate for each fairy adventurer. While you’re there, enjoy the tea rooms’ treats, including a traditional cream tea.

Castell Coch, Cardiff
For something completely different, visitors to Wales’s own fairy-tale castle, Castell Coch, can ‘see’ the site’s mythical inhabitants through a digital fairy-spotting trail.
Using augmented reality, you can find and collect ten different fairies located around the enchanted site, each with a traditional Welsh name. The fairies hide in the castle rooms but are only visible through your phone or tablet screen. Register all ten in the app’s fairy log for a special prize.
If you’d like to play along, download the Cadw app before visiting and save the fairy content in the Digital Trails section so it’s available even without a connection. At the castle, turn on Bluetooth and use the digital maps — the fairy log will sparkle when a fairy is near.

Balloch Castle Country Park, Loch Lomond

The Fairy Woods at Fedderate, Aberdeenshire

The trail lets kids seek out fairies and their houses, then head over to the Toadstool Story Circle for a snack, explore the play park, and even “bake” in the mud kitchens.
BeWILDerwood, Norfolk
In Norfolk, the award-winning BeWILDerwood is a wild outdoor adventure that children — and adults — will love.
Start with a magical boat ride to meet lots of fantasy creatures, then explore the forest with a little fairy dust sprinkled in. There are treehouses, zip wires, jungle bridges, Crocklebogs, Twiggles and Boggles, storytelling, marsh walks, and plenty more family fun.
Fairy Trail at Church Farm Ardeley, Hertfordshire
Church Farm Ardeley is a working farm where you can escape the daily hustle and enjoy the countryside. Visitors can meet and feed the animals and their newborns on the Farm Trail, and take part in real farm experiences such as egg collecting, apple picking and bottle-feeding goats, subject to availability.
Explore the Woodland Fairy Trail, hunt for fairy doors and houses in the woods and around the fields, solve the fairy riddles, work out the fairy code, discover your fairy name, and make a wish on the Wishing Chair.
