Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different pasta shape?

Yes — this recipe works well with almost any pasta shape you have to hand. Shorter shapes like penne, fusilli or macaroni tend to hold the sauce best.

Can I freeze tuna pasta casserole?

Leftovers can be cooled and stored in an airtight container in the fridge for a couple of days. If you’d like to freeze it, cool it fully first and use a freezer-safe container.

Can I swap the cream of mushroom soup for something else?

If you’d prefer not to use tinned soup, a simple white sauce or another cream-based soup can work as a substitute. The texture may vary slightly, but the casserole will still bake up nicely.

Is this a good recipe for using up leftovers?

Yes — it’s a handy way to use up pasta or tinned tuna you already have, and any extra portions are perfect for packing into lunchboxes the next day.
